CITY OF CORNING is on route I-86 17 of the southern tier
expressway.
By 1847 the community of Corning had grown enough to be incorporated as the Village of
Corning. In the 1880's a movement developed to unite Knoxville with the Village of
Corning. On March 29 1890, the state granted incorporation to the two to become the City
of Corning
Corning is the home of Corning Incorporated and the world-famous Corning Glass Center.
Each year, approximately half a million guests visit the Corning Glass Center to tour the
Museum of Glass, Hall of Science and Industry, and Steuben Glass Factory.
In downtown Corning, is the newly-enlarged Rockwell Museum, home of the largest collection
of American Western Art and Carder Steuben Glass in the East. Corning down town with it's
historic restored Market Street with its brick sidewalks make Corning a Great place to
visit.
