The City of Hornell is located in the Canisteo Valley at exit 34 on route
17, I - 86 of the Southern Tier Expressway. Hornell is 60 miles south of Rochester and 93
miles southeast of Buffalo in the Western section of Steuben County. It is known as the
"Maple City" because of its maple lined streets.
Judge George Hornell came to this area in 1794, purchasing well over 2000 acres of land.
By 1852, Hornell became an incorporated Village and within 36 years, it grew to become a
City.
The Hornell Airport is the largest Airport in Steuben County.
