Kanona is located at exit 37 on route 17, I - 86 of the Southern Tier Expressway. The
small hamlet of Kanona is in the western part of the Township of Bath The word
"Kanona" is the Indian word for nearby Five Mile Creek, and means "Rusty
Waters", referring to the discoloration of the stream at the time it was named.
